HAWALLY ("we", "us") builds small, practical tools, including Splitbal, our bill-splitting app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using our website or Splitbal, you agree to this policy. Last updated: June 2026.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address, used to create your account, sign you in, and send verification codes.
• Display name and password, stored only as a salted hash.
• If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar) from that provider.

Bill-Splitting Data (Splitbal)

To make splitting expenses work, Splitbal stores the data you enter, such as:

• Expense titles, amounts, dates, and categories.
• Names or labels of the people you split with, and how much each person owes or paid.
• Groups or events you create to organize shared costs.

This information is yours. We use it only to provide the splitting features and to sync your records across your devices.

Technical Information

• Basic device and browser information, IP address, and log data used for security and troubleshooting.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve our website and Splitbal.
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Send verification codes and essential service emails, such as password resets.
• Respond to your support requests and product reservations.
• Detect, prevent, and address abuse or technical issues.

Email and Verification Codes

We send six-digit codes to verify your email during registration and password reset. These codes are short-lived and used only for verification. We do not use your email for marketing without your consent.

Third-Party Sign-In

If you choose Google or GitHub sign-in, your login is handled by that provider under their own privacy policies. We only receive the basic profile needed to create your account.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

• With service providers that help us operate, such as email delivery, under confidentiality obligations.
• When required by law, or to protect our rights and our users.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secured servers. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us, and we will remove it unless we are required to keep it by law.
